As the mainstream propagandists try to elevate egocentric, selfish, vain, NBA athletes  into something they are not… heroes, role models, or even “historic” representations of today’s culture, many fans are left wondering, “Where’s the beef?” or if you are a not a Trump loathing liberal, “Who do I cheer for?”

The finals of the National Basketball Association, for the fourth year in a row, has the same two team facing off for the championship.  Sports writers put on their cultural commentator caps in vapid attempts  to morph the showdown into a match up between the working class Cleveland Cavaliers and the New Age/High Tech Golden State Warriors.

“The two teams define not only their sport, but our national character.  The matchup is nothing less than a clash between America’s two halves,” concludes POLITICO columnist Derek Robinson.

“This year’s Finals between the Cavs and the Warriors is a debate over what it is to be a good American.”

Yeah, right and the decision over which vacuous Kardashian sister/mother/granddaughter/domestic servant/cross-dresser is going to wear gold lame on the Red Carpet at this week’s rendition of Hollywood’s “We are the Most Gifted and Important People on the Planet” Award Ceremony is a debate over who should be the next Pope.

One thing is certain: the Deja Vu NBA Finals is not a clash of cultures, ideology, or New Age vs. Industrial America or even an energetic showdown between the mean girls at your local junior high school.  It’s a rerun: pitting the best basketball player in the game today vs. three or four of the best basketball players in the game today.  It isn’t the old world working class Cleveland vs. the cutting edge California; it’s a basketball series between excessively talented, over indulged, like thinking, politically correct multi-millionaires and another multimillionaire narcissist LeBron James.  Both teams have let it be known that when they win the championship, they won’t be caught dead visiting the White House.

LeBron James, supposedly the face of working class Cleveland, has announced he is going to dump his hometown again at the end of the season for a “younger, prettier” basketball franchise.  James is not exactly an NBA great Tim Duncan or six time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady, both of whom not only turned down significant pay hikes, but took pay cuts to remain with and help their respective teams.

This year’s NBA finals will showcase many of the best players ever in the game and if Cleveland can comeback to make it a series, it could be an entertaining sporting event.  But historic or culturally significant… not even close.  So ignore the hype and hyperbole or the “journalists” who try to find important meaning in this vapid match-up, it’s not there to be found.

All we know with certainty is: at the end of the day, neither team will be going to the White House… if that isn’t a profile in courage, it’s hard to imagine what is.

  1. I am so glad they won’t be going to my Trump’s White House.
They none of them deserve it even for the few athletes who
    served in the military!
